In September 2022, RUSH actively participated in the HINZ Digital Health Leadership Summit, facilitating several roundtable discussions centered around the promising theme of "The future of mental health and wellbeing in Aotearoa New Zealand." It was an enlightening experience where almost every healthcare professional who joined our table had a personal story or experience related to mental health that they were eager to share.

Interestingly, our conversations predominantly revolved around human experiences rather than merely discussing technological solutions. This insightful observation prompted us to explore the potential of utilising human-centred design and innovative digital tools to support individuals on their mental health journey.

We firmly believe that leveraging human-centered design principles can create digital solutions that prioritize empathy, inclusivity, and accessibility. By placing the user at the heart of the design process, we can develop tools that offer personalised support and cater to each individual's unique needs.

This whitepaper delves deeper into the compelling case for integrating human-centered design and digital tools to enhance mental health services. Through exploring real-life examples and case studies, we aim to showcase the transformative potential of this approach.

By embracing human-centered design principles and digital innovation, we have a remarkable opportunity to create a more compassionate and supportive environment for individuals seeking mental health support.
